we invite you to join an online journey through the magazine Itogi with Sergey Parkhomenko and Maria Lipman.
We will discuss the June 15, 1999 issue of Itogi—at that time, Vladimir Putin’s appointment as prime minister was still a month away, but Yeltsin’s inner circle had already made its decision. Why and how did this happen? What did journalists understand 25 years ago, and what have they learned since then?
This event offers a chance to rediscover the legacy of a magazine that became a symbol of a free press in Russia, hear the stories of its creators, and ask them your questions.
The moderators will be Anna Nemzer (host of the Dozhd channel, co-founder of the RIMA project) and Ilya Venyavkin (historian, co-founder of the RIMA project).
