Save Smolny

On June 17, a group of female students from the Faculty, who created the Save Smolny community, launched a website with the same name. The site is dedicated to analyzing the catastrophic situation that has developed in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We admire how, against all odds, they manage to preserve and even, moreover, most powerfully manifest the spirit of Smolny, demonstrating the strength of an independent student community. Dear Students – creators of the community and the website! On behalf of those teachers who have already left or are leaving the faculty, we express our support and sympathy to you! The site clearly and convincingly demonstrates how the university administration cynically and ruthlessly destroys the fruit of many years of efforts by so many people, depriving the university of one of its most successful international projects. It’s understandable that in the current political climate of Russian aggression in Ukraine and the militarization of Russian society, nothing else can be expected. However, the clarity and courage with which the Smolny students expose the details of the process are impressive.
