The Citizen Science course aims to empower students with essential scientific literacy through immersive, hands-on experiences and practical real-world projects. We explore critical questions: What is science? What does scientific literacy truly entail? How can citizens meaningfully engage with and influence scientific debates that affect their communities and lives? How can individuals effectively access and interpret scientific information amidst widespread misinformation? Moreover, what competencies are necessary to critically assess scientific claims and ensure that science is conducted, analyzed, and communicated responsibly, free from undue political or social influences? This course allows the STEM and non-STEM students to understand both how science influences them and how they, as citizens, can influence an ever-increasing number of national and global issues of the modern world.
