“Friendship Screenings” is a series of moving-image screenings hosting our friends (their friends, and their friends’ friends) and their practices. In its inaugural episode, we are thrilled to present a retrospective of Masha Godovannaya’s filmwork.

Masha is an experimental filmmaker, queer-feminist researcher, curator and educator. She approaches art production as artistic research and collective action, drawing from moving image theory, experimental cinema, DIY video tradition, social sciences, post-Soviet/postsocialist studies, queer theory, and decolonial methodologies.

The program includes the following films (in alphabetical order): Fetish Frames (2013), her* hands and his shape (2017–2020, collaboration with Silvia das Fadas), Only Two Words (2018), The City Bridges Are Open Again (2020), The Elusive Horizon (2014), There Is Still More to Come (2024), and What For (2022).

The preview version, presenting the films in loop, will run on June 7 at 15–19h. The screening, combined with the artist talk, will start at 20:30 on June 9.

Place: Kunstverein, Weiglgasse 8/B/R1 – 1150 Vienna, Austria.
