RIMA Fellowships for scholars, students and faculty members

RIMA Fellowships for scholars, students and faculty members

The Russian Independent Media Archive (RIMA) is excited to announce opportunities for scholars committed to the preservation of media free from the constraint of the Russian State. The fellowships will be coordinated by Bard College, which has a longstanding commitment to the intersection of higher education and civic participation and is enthusiastic to enhance RIMA’s role in academia. Bard’s involvement builds on its history of fostering US-Russian academic collaboration, notably through its former partnership with Smolny College. This fellowship not only supports RIMA’s mission but also aligns with Bard’s broader initiatives to support Russian scholars and students in exile, reinforcing the importance of human rights and civil society in education.

RIMA is offering three distinct opportunities for established scholars and graduate students:

📌 1. RIMA Course Development Fund
Four $2,000 grants are available for faculty members interested in integrating RIMA into their courses, with the aim of fostering media literacy and understanding independent journalism. This is a great way to contribute to preserving Russian independent media while shaping future scholars, journalists, and activists.
Application Deadline: October 28, 2024

📌 2. RIMA MA and Doctoral Virtual Fellowships
Five $3,500 stipends are available for MA and doctoral students who wish to incorporate RIMA into their theses or research. Fellows will receive access to RIMA’s resources and expert guidance from Bard College and PEN America.
Application Deadline: October 28, 2024.

📌 3. RIMA Semester Senior Fellowship
Two fellowships, each with a $6,000 stipend and a week-long visit to Bard College, are available for senior scholars and researchers. Fellows will engage in collaborative research with PEN America and Bard College, contributing to RIMA’s mission and participating in a residency at Bard.
Application Deadline: October 28, 2024.

Review of applications will take place on a rolling basis with priority given to submissions made prior to October 28th, 2024.
