The International Debate club will include students from four partner institutions in various countries. In line with the liberal arts approach to higher education, this club serves as an extracurricular activity that allows you to strengthen your intercultural communication skills as you collaborate with other students. In this club, you will learn how to clearly defend an opinion through logical reasoning and verifiable research, practice your English speaking skills through spontaneous interaction, and develop the ability to think on your feet as you respond to your arguments from your peers.

This club will meet in the first semester, starting with a series of workshops guiding students through proper debate methodology and strategies for effective public speaking. Following these workshops, students will choose the final debate topic that they will prepare with groups from their home institution. At the end of the program, students will come together in a friendly, spirited debate competition judged by representatives from each university. This club is ideal for anyone who already has a minimum B1 level of English, is looking to improve their public speaking skills, and wants to meet new people in a more informal context than a traditional classroom.

Please note that you will be participating in this club as part of a group, so please be certain that you can attend most club meetings (Monday from 8pm – 9:30pm CEST for the first portion of the program, then 8pm – 10pm in the second portion of the program).
