Masha Godovannaya curated the online programme “Initiating Encounters” for the CIFRA platform. The programme features twelve films by contemporary film and video artists who explore found and compiled archives, problematize history and the workings of memory, and engage with traces left by ghosts, unexpected social actors, ambiguous political figures, and marginal cultural agents.

These films represent cinematic examples of artistic research, creating screen spaces where spectral and real voices can be heard, ask questions, make demands, and encourage reflection, the search for answers, and further action.

The programme will be available to watch free of charge until mid-April.
