Smolny Associate’s first year kicks off with the Language and Thinking Program, an intensive three-week online introduction to the liberal arts and sciences, heavily emphasizing writing. All incoming students participate, engaging in extensive reading and diverse writing projects. They collaborate in daily group sessions. Successful completion of the program is necessary to continue studies at Smolny. This program is designed to foster habits of thoughtful reading, clear expression, accurate self-critique, and effective collaboration.
