What does the increasing importance of female images from the national past say about nineteenth-century European culture? What was the “feminine” effect in the new type of historical painting? How did the “feminization” of history contribute to bringing history closer to the individual, giving him an individual right to history? How did this affect the modeling of the images of nations? How did the Russian contribution to these processes differ from Western European and Polish?
